Nepal Adventure Activities | Rafting, Paragliding, Bungee and More
Nepal’s geography — from the Himalayan peaks to the Terai plains via the middle hills, deep river gorges and open lakes — creates extraordinary conditions for adventure. The rivers draining the world’s highest mountains produce some of Asia’s finest white water; Pokhara’s valley position beneath the Annapurna range provides perfect thermal conditions for paragliding; the Bhote Koshi gorge holds a bungee with one of the world’s greatest natural drops; and the network of mountain trails serves both trekkers and mountain bikers. Eco Holiday Asia arranges all Nepal adventure activities as standalone day trips, multi-day adventure itineraries, or add-ons to trekking and cultural tours.
White Water Rafting
Trisuli River (Grade 2-3) — Best for Beginners
Nepal’s most popular rafting river, 2-3 hours from Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. Day trip (Mugling section, 3-4 hrs on water) or 2-night camping trip to Chitwan. Suitable for all ages and non-swimmers. Eco Holiday Asia includes Trisuli rafting as a standard add-on to any Kathmandu–Chitwan tour.
Bhote Koshi River (Grade 4-5) — Most Intense
The steepest commercially rafted river in Nepal, draining the Tibet border gorge. A single explosive day from Kathmandu — 3-hour drive up, full day on the river, return. Minimum age 18; previous rafting experience recommended. Same gorge as The Last Resort bungee. Can be combined with bungee in a single day.
Sun Koshi Expedition (Grade 4-5) — Best Multi-Day
Eight days on the Sun Koshi river in eastern Nepal: one of the world’s great river expeditions, running from Dolalghat (east of Kathmandu) to the Terai plains at Chatara near Koshi Tappu. Jungle camps, fishing villages, Class 4-5 rapids. Groups of 8-12 preferred.
Paragliding in Pokhara
Tandem Paragliding — Pokhara
Launch from Sarangkot at 1,600 m for a 25-30 minute tandem flight with a certified pilot over Phewa Lake, with direct views of Machhapuchhre (6,993 m) and the Annapurna massif. One of the world’s most scenic tandem flights. Good thermal conditions can extend flights to 45-60 minutes. Eco Holiday Asia works exclusively with CIVL-certified operators and provides pickup from any Pokhara hotel.
Bungee, Canyon Swing & Zip Line
The Last Resort Bungee — Bhote Koshi (160 m)
A 160-metre free fall over the Bhote Koshi river gorge, 3 hours from Kathmandu near the Tibet border. One of the top 10 bungee sites in the world by drop height. Fixed steel platform. New Zealand-trained inspection team. Age 18+; weight limits apply.
Canyon Swing (300 m arc)
The world’s longest canyon swing at the same Bhote Koshi site. A 300-metre pendulum arc over the gorge at up to 150 km/h. Can be combined with bungee on the same day.
Zip Lining — Pokhara
Nepal’s longest zip line from the Sarangkot ridge: 1.8 km long, reaching speeds of 120 km/h with the Annapurna range ahead. Available after a tandem paraglide or as a standalone activity.
Mountain Biking
Mountain biking day trips from Kathmandu (Nagarjun forest, valley rim trail) and Pokhara (Sarangkot circuit, Naudanda trail). Multi-day routes from Kathmandu to Pokhara available on request. All bike hire includes helmet, gloves and repair kit; a support vehicle follows on longer routes.
Rock Climbing & Canyoning
Rock climbing at Nagarjun forest and Hattiban Resort cliff face (Grade 4-8 UIAA). Canyoning in the Shivapuri watershed north of Kathmandu covers abseiling, natural water slides and pool jumps through a forested river canyon (5-6 hours; no experience needed).
Skydiving
Tandem skydiving above the Kathmandu Valley from Pokhara airport. Freefall from 15,000 ft (approx. 4,575 m) with the Annapurna range visible during descent. 4-minute freefall followed by a 5-minute canopy glide. All instructors certified; equipment meets USPA standards.
