Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior trekking experience for the EBC or Annapurna Circuit?
No prior trekking experience is required, but you need good aerobic fitness. Walking 5–7 hours per day for 14+ consecutive days is the key requirement. Begin training (walking, hiking, stair climbing) 3–4 months before your trek.
Can I do a Nepal trek solo?
Nepal regulations require that trekkers in restricted areas (Mustang, Manaslu, Tsum Valley, Nar Phu) are accompanied by a registered guide. For standard routes (Annapurna, Everest), independent trekking is permitted but we strongly recommend a guide for safety, especially above 4,000m.
What is the best season for Nepal trekking?
October to November (autumn) and March to May (spring) are the peak seasons for most routes. Upper Mustang and Dolpo are best in monsoon season (June–September) when the rain shadow keeps them dry.
Are trekking permits expensive?
Standard permits (TIMS card + national park entry) cost USD 30–50 total for most routes. Restricted area permits (Mustang, Manaslu) cost significantly more and have minimum-stay requirements. All permit costs are included in Eco Holiday Asia package prices — there are no hidden extras. Permit fees may change — Eco Holiday Asia verifies the latest rates before confirming your trip.
