Nepal Family Tours
Wildlife safaris, ancient temples, mountain sunrises, and jungle canoe rides — Nepal delivers genuine adventure for families travelling with children of all ages.
Why Nepal is Perfect for Families
Nepal sits in a rare sweet spot for family travel. It is safe and welcoming, has world-class wildlife (rhinos, tigers, elephants, crocodiles), some of the most dramatic mountain scenery on earth, and a culture so visually rich that even children who resist museums find themselves engaged. Distances between major attractions are manageable, food is generally family-friendly, and Nepal’s people make foreign families feel genuinely at home.
Eco Holiday Asia designs Nepal family tours around your children’s ages and interests. We match the pace to the youngest member, not the most enthusiastic adult trekker.

Practical Family Travel Notes
- Medical: Consult your travel doctor 6–8 weeks before departure. Hepatitis A, typhoid, and tetanus are commonly recommended. Bring a small family first-aid kit including rehydration salts.
- Food: Kathmandu and Pokhara have international restaurants serving pasta, pizza, and sandwiches alongside local food. Dal bhat, momos, and noodle soups are popular with children.
- Water: Drink only filtered or bottled water. Our guides carry purification tablets.
- Insects: Use DEET-based repellent in Chitwan. Discuss malaria prophylaxis with your doctor if you have concerns about the Terai region.
- Transport: All family tours use private AC vehicles. We provide child car seats on request — please advise children’s ages when booking.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum age for Chitwan jeep safaris?
Chitwan National Park permits children of all ages on jeep safaris. Canoe rides are suitable for children 5 and over with a life jacket provided.
Can children trek in Nepal?
Yes. The Poon Hill trek (4 days, max altitude 3,200m) is one of the most child-friendly treks in the world. Many families with children aged 8–10 complete it successfully. We grade routes to match your family’s fitness.
Are Nepal hotels family-friendly?
Yes. Most 3-star and above hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara offer family rooms, connecting rooms, and children’s menus. We vet all properties for family suitability before recommending them.
How do we handle altitude with children?
For standard family itineraries (Kathmandu, Chitwan, Pokhara), maximum altitude is under 2,000m — no altitude concern. For treks above 3,000m, we build in acclimatisation days and monitor children closely throughout.
