How Fit Do You Need to Be?

You do not need to be an athlete, but you should be comfortable walking 5-7 hours per day on uneven terrain with a daypack. Start training 2-3 months before your trek:

  • Hike with a loaded daypack on weekends
  • Build cardiovascular fitness (running, cycling, swimming)
  • Practice walking uphill and downhill on stairs
  • Strengthen your core and legs
