The Pottery and Craft Workshop takes you to the pottery squares of the Kathmandu Valley — where Newari potters have been shaping clay on hand-turned wheels for centuries — for a hands-on experience with master artisans. You learn the basic techniques of traditional pottery, create your own piece on the wheel, and visit metalwork and woodcarving workshops where artisans demonstrate the skills that produced the extraordinary temple art of the valley.

Bhaktapur’s pottery square is a living workshop — not a demonstration for tourists. The potters who teach you are the same artisans who produce the ceremonial pottery, water vessels, and decorative pieces that are used throughout the valley. Your visit and purchases support the continuation of craft traditions that are central to Newari cultural identity.
