About This Tour

About This Tour

The Nepal Cultural Triangle Tour is the classic Nepal route — 10 days through Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan, the three most rewarding regions in central Nepal. Heritage in Kathmandu, mountains and lakes in Pokhara, wildlife in Chitwan. It is the perfect first Nepal trip, and the most popular itinerary we run.

You start in Kathmandu with two days of UNESCO heritage — Durbar Squares, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Patan or Bhaktapur. Then fly to Pokhara for three nights of lakeside time, sunrise mountain views, a village walk, and an optional adventure or trek day. Finally, three nights in Chitwan for jeep safari, dugout canoe, jungle walk and a Tharu cultural village.

The pace is well-balanced — busy days have a quiet day on either side, and we use private vehicles or flights between regions. Suitable for couples, families with older children, photographers, slow travelers and first-time visitors who want to understand Nepal in 10 days without exhausting themselves.

Community Impact of This Trip

This 10-day tour spreads income across three regions and three different host communities — Newari heritage families in Kathmandu, Gurung farming villages in Pokhara hills, and Tharu communities in Chitwan. By moving through each region with local guides, you support multiple local economies.

Chitwan park fees fund anti-poaching and habitat restoration (Chitwan rhino population recovered from under 400 to over 700). Kathmandu UNESCO ticket fees fund heritage restoration after the 2015 earthquake. Pokhara village walks pay families directly for hospitality.

Responsible Travel Notes

  • Respect local culture, dress modestly at temples and ask before photographing people
  • Avoid single-use plastic — carry a refillable water bottle on tour
  • Follow your guide's instructions at heritage sites, monasteries and protected areas
  • Support local businesses — buy at family-run shops, eat at local restaurants
  • Respect sacred sites and community customs
  • Follow Nepal permit and conservation rules in protected areas

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 10 days enough for Nepal?
For a first trip focused on culture, nature and wildlife — yes. 10 days gives a balanced experience of three different Nepal regions without exhausting the trip. For trekking add-ons or remote regions, 14-20 days is better.
Can we replace Chitwan with a trek?
Yes — common alternatives are Mohare Danda Community Trek (6 days) or Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek (5 days). Both fit cleanly in place of Chitwan days. Tell us your preference.
Are domestic flights necessary?
They save a lot of time. Kathmandu to Pokhara is 6-7 hours by tourist bus or 25 minutes by flight. Pokhara to Chitwan is 5-6 hours by drive or 30 minutes by flight. We recommend flying both legs unless you specifically want the road journey.
Is this tour suitable for families?
Yes — this is one of our most popular family itineraries. Comfortable hotels, jungle lodge, child-friendly activities (boat ride, jungle walk, Tharu village). Tell us children's ages and we adjust pace.
What if it rains in Chitwan?
Chitwan operates year-round, but October-April is the dry, cool season with best wildlife visibility. Monsoon (June-September) is hot and wet but the jungle is at its greenest.
Can we add Lumbini?
Yes — 2 extra days for Lumbini between Pokhara and Chitwan, with flights from Pokhara to Bhairahawa. Strongly recommended for travelers interested in Buddhism.
Can we upgrade accommodation?
Yes — Kathmandu and Pokhara both have luxury options (Dwarika's, Pavilions, Tiger Mountain). Chitwan has Tiger Tops, Meghauli Serai. We can quote upgrades for any night.
What is the cost?
Pricing depends on group size, accommodation level, transport choices and travel season. Send us your dates and group composition and we will respond with a transparent quote within 24 hours.
